In Logan, the young mutant called X-23 is named Laura.
Laura is a genetically engineered child created using genetic material connected to Wolverine. Like Logan, she has retractable claws and an accelerated healing ability, but her claws are located in both her hands and feet. The film gradually reveals her identity and her connection to Logan.
Dafne Keen plays Laura in Logan, while Hugh Jackman returns as an older, physically weakened Wolverine. Laura’s escape from the Transigen program drives much of the film’s road story, as Logan and Professor Xavier try to get her and other children to safety.
X-23 is Laura’s laboratory designation, not her personal name. The character originated in Marvel Comics before appearing in live action, where Logan gives her a central role in his final film appearance as Wolverine.
