In "Kill Bill," Uma Thurman’s assassin character, The Bride, uses the code name Black Mamba.
The Bride is later identified as Beatrix Kiddo, a former member of Bill’s Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. After surviving an attempted murder at her wedding rehearsal, she awakens from a coma and begins hunting the squad members responsible. Her campaign for revenge forms the central story of Quentin Tarantino’s two-part martial-arts epic.
The code names are based on snakes, which makes the surrounding answers easy to confuse. O-Ren Ishii is Cottonmouth, Vernita Green is Copperhead, and Elle Driver is California Mountain Snake. Black Mamba belongs specifically to Beatrix, the character portrayed by Thurman.
Thurman and Tarantino developed the character during their collaboration on "Pulp Fiction." The Bride’s martial-arts training under Pai Mei, her yellow jumpsuit, and her Hattori Hanzo sword became some of the series’ most recognizable elements. The code name was later famously adopted by basketball star Kobe Bryant.
