In Jurassic Park (1993), programmer Dennis’s surname is Nedry.
Dennis Nedry, played by Wayne Knight, is the computer programmer responsible for the park’s security and automated systems. He secretly agrees to steal dinosaur embryos for Lewis Dodgson, a representative of the rival company BioSyn. To disable the park’s security, Nedry shuts down several systems, allowing the dinosaurs to escape their controlled areas.
Nedry is often described casually as a hacker, although the film presents him more specifically as an employee who sabotages the park’s network and steals data. His actions trigger the central crisis, but his plan collapses when he gets lost while trying to reach a delivery point and is attacked by a Dilophosaurus.
The character is sometimes confused with Ray Arnold, the park’s chief engineer, or Henry Wu, the geneticist who helped create the dinosaurs. Jurassic Park was directed by Steven Spielberg and adapted from Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel.
