In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, what is the name of the Grail’s final resting place?

The story behind the answer

In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the Grail’s final resting place is the Temple of the Sun.

The temple stands in a canyon near Alexandretta, where the Grail Knight has guarded the cup for centuries. Indiana reaches it after decoding clues from the Grail diary and surviving the three trials: the Breath of God, the Word of God, and the Path of God.

The setting is fictional, but the film gives it a detailed legendary history. The chamber contains many cups, forcing the Grail seeker to identify the humble cup that Jesus supposedly used at the Last Supper. Walter Donovan chooses incorrectly, while Indiana selects the plain wooden vessel.

The Temple of the Sun should not be confused with Petra, Jordan, whose Treasury served as the exterior for the temple entrance. The film uses Petra as its visual location, but the story’s name for the Grail sanctuary is the Temple of the Sun.
