Answer
Beauxbatons Academy of Magic
Answer
Beauxbatons Academy of Magic
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the French wizarding school is Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.
Beauxbatons sends a delegation to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament, an international magical competition involving three schools. The delegation is led by its headmistress, Olympe Maxime, and includes Fleur Delacour, who becomes Beauxbatons’s champion.
The school’s name is French: “beaux bâtons” can be understood as “beautiful wands,” although the official English name is usually written as Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Its students arrive at Hogwarts in a large carriage drawn by winged horses, creating one of the novel’s memorable entrances.
Beauxbatons is often mixed up with Durmstrang Institute, the other visiting school in the tournament. Durmstrang is associated with northern Europe and sends Viktor Krum as its champion. Hogwarts, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang are the three schools represented at the 1994–1995 Triwizard Tournament described in the book.
