In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, what object does Harry receive from Albus Dumbledore’s will?

The story behind the answer

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, Harry receives a Golden Snitch from Albus Dumbledore’s will.

The Snitch is the same type of Quidditch ball Harry caught in his first Hogwarts match. The Ministry initially prevents Harry from receiving other items intended for him, including the Sword of Gryffindor. Later, the Snitch reveals that it has a connection to Harry’s first touch of it, opening to display the words “I open at the close.”

The message points toward the Resurrection Stone, one of the three Deathly Hallows. The stone is hidden inside the Snitch and can be accessed only when Harry brings it to his lips. Dumbledore’s bequest therefore links Harry’s personal history with the larger mythology of the Deathly Hallows.

The Snitch is not the same object as the Resurrection Stone itself. It is a container used to conceal the stone. This distinction matters because the film includes several important magical objects, including the Elder Wand and the Invisibility Cloak.
