Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was released theatrically in the United States on 15 November 2002.
The film was the second entry in Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter film series and followed Harry’s second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Chris Columbus directed it, returning after directing Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
The US release came after the film’s world premiere in London on 3 November 2002. Its release schedule is sometimes confused with that of the first film, which opened in the United Kingdom in November 2001, or Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, released in 2004.
Chamber of Secrets continued the main cast’s story with Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. It also introduced several important characters and creatures, including Dobby, Lucius Malfoy, and Aragog.
