In Genesis, what did Noah send out first from the Ark after the waters receded?

The story behind the answer

In Genesis, Noah first sent a raven out from the Ark after the floodwaters began to recede. Genesis 8:7 says that the raven went back and forth until the waters dried from the earth.

Noah then sent a dove to test whether the ground had become suitable. The dove initially found nowhere to rest and returned to the ark. After seven days, Noah sent it again, and it returned with a freshly plucked olive leaf. A later release showed that the dove did not return, indicating that the waters had subsided enough for land to be habitable.

The raven and dove serve different roles in the biblical sequence. Popular retellings often focus only on the dove and omit the earlier raven. The olive branch has become a widely recognized symbol of peace, but Genesis specifically describes an olive leaf brought back to Noah.
