Olaf is the name of Anna’s snowman friend in Frozen.
Anna and Elsa build Olaf as children while playing in the snow. Elsa’s magical powers later bring him to life, and he becomes one of the film’s main comic characters. Although Olaf is made of snow, he dreams of experiencing summer.
Josh Gad provides Olaf’s speaking voice. The character’s song “In Summer” humorously describes his wish to enjoy warm weather without understanding what heat would do to a snowman.
Olaf is sometimes confused with Marshmallow, the much larger snow creature Elsa creates to guard her ice palace. Sven is Kristoff’s reindeer companion, while Kristoff is the mountain man who helps Anna travel. Olaf also appears in Frozen II and several short films and specials.
