In Frasier, who plays Donny Douglas?

The story behind the answer

In *Frasier*, Donny Douglas is played by Saul Rubinek.

Rubinek appears as Donny, the aggressive divorce lawyer who represents Niles Crane during his split from Maris. The character’s blunt manner, unconventional courtroom tactics, and distinctly unrefined personality make him a comic counterpoint to Frasier and Niles’s cultivated image.

Donny’s role expands beyond Niles’s legal proceedings. He becomes Daphne Moon’s boyfriend and fiancé, placing him directly between Daphne and Niles, whose long-standing feelings for her are finally becoming impossible to ignore. That storyline makes Donny one of the show’s most memorable recurring guest characters.

Viewers may confuse Rubinek with Anthony LaPaglia, who plays Simon Moon, Daphne’s troublesome brother. Miguel Sandoval appears as Detective Dave, while Brian Stokes Mitchell plays a different guest character. Rubinek’s Donny is especially associated with season 6’s divorce storyline and the later engagement plot.
