In Disney's The Little Mermaid, the human prince Ariel wants to marry is Prince Eric.
Ariel sees Eric during a storm and rescues him after his ship is wrecked. She falls in love with him despite their different worlds, and her wish to become human leads her to make a dangerous bargain with Ursula.
Eric is voiced in the original English version by Christopher Daniel Barnes. Unlike some earlier Disney princes, he has a more active role in the plot: he investigates the mysterious girl who saved him and ultimately helps defeat Ursula.
Prince Eric is distinct from Prince Phillip in Sleeping Beauty and Prince Edward in Enchanted. Those characters belong to different Disney stories. Eric's kingdom, ship, and relationship with Ariel are central features of the 1989 animated film.
