In Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, what was the first song Snow White sings?

The story behind the answer

In Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Snow White first sings “I'm Wishing.” The song appears early in the 1937 film, when Snow White is drawing water from a well and wishing for someone to love her.

“I'm Wishing” was written by Frank Churchill, with lyrics by Larry Morey. It is performed as a call-and-response sequence: Snow White sings toward the well, and her voice echoes back. A prince then hears her singing, creating the first connection between the two characters.

The song is often confused with “Someday My Prince Will Come,” which Snow White sings later and which became the film's best-known romantic number. “Whistle While You Work” comes later too, during the cottage-cleaning scene. The wishing-well sequence helped establish the film's musical storytelling and gave the movie a memorable opening song before its major plot developments.
