In Disney's Recess animated series, T.J. and his friends attend Third Street School.
The school is the main setting for the series, which follows six fourth-grade students during their daily classes, playground adventures, and recess-time social life. The title refers to the break between lessons when the children create their own elaborate society on the school grounds.
The school’s full descriptive name is also given as Third Street Elementary School, but the series and reference material commonly shorten it to Third Street School. It is not a real school used as the show’s production location; it is a fictional elementary school created for the story.
The central group includes T.J. Detweiler, Vince LaSalle, Ashley Spinelli, Mikey Blumberg, Gretchen Grundler, and Gus Griswold. Principal Peter Prickly runs the school, while Miss Finster monitors students and helps enforce its rules. The 2001 film Recess: School's Out also returns to Third Street School as a major setting.
