In Disney's Mulan, what year was the animated musical released?

The story behind the answer

Disney's animated musical Mulan was released in 1998.

The film premiered in the United States on June 19, 1998, and became the 36th animated feature produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation. It adapts the traditional Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, a woman who takes her father’s place in the army.

Mulan was directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook. Its English voice cast included Ming-Na Wen as Mulan, Eddie Murphy as Mushu and B. D. Wong as Captain Li Shang, while Lea Salonga provided Mulan’s singing voice.

The film’s songs include “Reflection,” “I'll Make a Man Out of You” and “A Girl Worth Fighting For.” It is distinct from Disney’s live-action Mulan, released in 2020, which does not follow the same musical format and omits the animated film’s songs.
