In Disney's Hercules, the Muses perform the opening song “The Gospel Truth.”
The Muses are five divine narrators who introduce the film's version of Greek mythology and guide the audience through Hercules' story. Their gospel, R&B, and soul-inspired musical style deliberately contrasts with the film's ancient setting.
The principal voice performers for the Muses were Lillias White, LaChanze, Roz Ryan, Cheryl Freeman, and Vanéese Y. Thomas. They are not the same characters as the Fates, the three gray-haired sisters who share one eye and predict events for Hades. The Muses also perform or lead major musical passages later in the film, including “Zero to Hero.”
