In Disney's Frozen, the snowman brought to life by Elsa's magic is named Olaf.
Olaf is created during Elsa's childhood snow play with Anna, although he does not become a living character until Elsa's powers erupt during her flight from Arendelle. He has a cheerful personality and an unusual fascination with summer, despite being made entirely of snow. His friendship with Anna and Kristoff makes him a major source of comic relief and warmth.
Olaf is voiced in the original English version by Josh Gad, who also performs his signature song, “In Summer.” The character is distinct from Marshmallow, the enormous snow guardian Elsa creates at her ice palace, and from Sven, Kristoff's reindeer companion. Olaf returns in Frozen II and several short films.
