In Disney’s Frozen, Kristoff is the ice harvester who helps Anna.
Kristoff lives in the mountains and makes his living harvesting ice, accompanied by his reindeer Sven. Anna meets him after leaving Arendelle to find Elsa, and she hires him to guide her toward the North Mountain. His knowledge of the terrain makes him an important practical partner during the journey.
Kristoff is initially portrayed as independent and blunt, but he gradually becomes more emotionally open. His relationship with Anna develops as they face danger together, including wolves, icy mountains, and Elsa’s snow guardian. Sven often communicates through Kristoff’s imagined version of the reindeer’s voice, adding a comic element to their companionship.
Kristoff returns as a major character in Frozen II. He attempts to propose to Anna during that film, and his solo song “Lost in the Woods” parodies the style of dramatic 1980s music videos. Kristoff is not a prince when he first meets Anna, although he becomes part of Arendelle’s royal family through their relationship.
