In Disney’s Frozen, Anna and Elsa’s father is King Agnarr.
Agnarr is the king of Arendelle and the husband of Queen Iduna. He and Iduna die in a shipwreck while traveling at sea, leaving Elsa and Anna without their parents before Elsa’s coronation. Their deaths are a major part of the sisters’ isolated childhood and help explain why Elsa is forced to become queen at a young age.
Agnarr appears briefly in Frozen through the film’s opening backstory and family memories. Frozen II gives his history a larger role by revealing that he survived a conflict involving the Northuldra as a young man and later became connected to Iduna, who saved him.
Viewers sometimes confuse Agnarr with King Runeard, his father and the previous king of Arendelle. Runeard’s actions in the past are central to the historical revelation in Frozen II, but Agnarr is the father of Anna and Elsa.
