In Disney’s Frozen Fever, Elsa’s birthday celebration goes wrong because she has a cold.
Elsa wants to give Anna a perfect birthday after the sisters’ years of separation. She leads Anna through a series of surprises around Arendelle, but her repeated sneezing produces tiny snow creatures called snowgies. As the day continues, Elsa’s illness becomes more obvious and causes practical problems for the carefully planned celebration.
The cold is the central comic premise of the short. It is not a magical curse like the ice powers that drive the feature film’s main conflict. The snowgies are connected to Elsa’s sneezes, making them a playful extension of her magic and illness.
Frozen Fever was released in 2015 and originally screened theatrically before Disney’s live-action Cinderella. It reunites Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven in a shorter story centered on the sisters’ relationship.
