In Dexter: Resurrection, Dexter travels to New York City while searching for Harrison. The sequel begins after Dexter survives the near-fatal shooting at the end of Dexter: New Blood and learns that his son is living in New York.
New York becomes the series’ principal setting as Dexter tries to locate Harrison and understand the violent path his son may be following. The search also brings Dexter into contact with New York City detectives and a new group of dangerous criminals, while his former Miami colleague Angel Batista continues pursuing the truth about him.
Viewers may confuse the destination with Miami, where much of the original series takes place, or Iron Lake, the setting of New Blood. Resurrection deliberately shifts the story to New York City, connecting Dexter’s past to a new urban crime world.
