In Deadpool 2, what is the name of the mutant child protected by Deadpool?

Russell Collins is the mutant child protected by Deadpool in Deadpool 2.

Russell uses the mutant name Firefist. He is a troubled young resident of the Essex House for Mutant Rehabilitation, where he experiences abuse and develops powerful fire-manipulation abilities. Deadpool initially tries to stop him from killing the facility’s headmaster, but later learns that Russell is being targeted because of what he may become.

The character’s name is sometimes confused with other young mutants from Marvel stories. Russell Collins is the comics identity of Firefist, and the film gives him a major role in its time-traveling plot involving Cable.

Deadpool 2 was directed by David Leitch and released in 2018. Ryan Reynolds played Deadpool, Josh Brolin played Cable, and Julian Dennison played Russell. The film combines superhero action with comedy and a story about preventing a child’s future transformation into a villain.
