In Dark Phoenix, which actor plays the adult Jean Grey?

Sophie Turner plays the adult Jean Grey in Dark Phoenix.

Turner had already portrayed Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse before returning for Dark Phoenix. The 2019 film places Jean at the center of the story after a space-rescue mission exposes her to a powerful cosmic force known as the Phoenix. The experience greatly amplifies her abilities and destabilizes her relationships with the other X-Men.

The film was directed by Simon Kinberg and adapts elements associated with the Dark Phoenix Saga from Marvel Comics. Jessica Chastain appears as Vuk, an alien leader who manipulates Jean’s immense power, so her presence can cause confusion when identifying the film’s major female characters.

Famke Janssen played an earlier adult version of Jean Grey in the original X-Men film series, including X-Men: The Last Stand. Turner’s performance belongs to the younger continuity introduced by X-Men: First Class and continued through later prequel-era films.
