Narnia is the world beyond the wardrobe in C.S. Lewis’s Narnia series. In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Lucy Pevensie enters Narnia through a magical wardrobe while exploring the house of Professor Kirke. Her siblings later follow her and become involved in the world’s conflict.
Narnia is both the name of the wider fictional realm and the kingdom at the center of many stories. The series includes other lands, including Archenland, Calormen, and the western regions beyond Narnia. The books feature talking animals, mythical creatures, human visitors, and long periods of history within the fictional world.
The seven Chronicles of Narnia were published between 1950 and 1956. Publication order begins with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, while some editions arrange the books according to the internal chronology of Narnian history. The wardrobe itself is not the name of the world; it is the entrance to it.
