In C.S. Lewis’s fantasy novel The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Prince Caspian’s ship is called the Dawn Treader.
The Dawn Treader carries Caspian and his companions eastward from Narnia. The voyage follows the route of seven Narnian lords who disappeared during the reign of Caspian’s uncle, King Miraz. Caspian hopes to discover what happened to them and to explore the eastern edge of the world.
Edmund and Lucy Pevensie join the expedition, as does their cousin Eustace Scrubb. The ship’s name supplies the novel’s title and reflects its movement toward sunrise and the far eastern waters. It is distinct from the smaller boat used during some later episodes of the journey, and it should not be confused with a ship from the 2010 film adaptation’s altered visual design.
