Beyoncé’s 2016 visual album is titled Lemonade.
The project was released on April 23, 2016, through Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records. It combines a studio album with an hour-long film, making the visual component central to the work rather than a separate collection of ordinary music videos.
Lemonade moves through several musical styles, including R&B, rock, country, blues, reggae, and soul. Its songs and film explore betrayal, grief, anger, reconciliation, family, Black identity, and resilience. The project drew on poetry by Warsan Shire, whose words appear throughout the visual film.
The album was widely praised and became Beyoncé’s sixth consecutive number-one album on the Billboard 200. It is sometimes confused with Homecoming, a 2019 live album and documentary, or Renaissance, her 2022 studio album. Lemonade is specifically the 2016 work built around its visual narrative.
