The stylized title of Beyoncé’s 2006 studio album is B’Day.
B’Day was released on September 4, 2006, which was Beyoncé’s 25th birthday. The title combines the idea of a birthday with the letter B, linking the album to its release date and the singer’s name.
The album included “Déjà Vu,” featuring Jay-Z, “Irreplaceable,” and “Beautiful Liar,” a duet with Shakira. “Irreplaceable” became one of Beyoncé’s biggest international hits and spent ten weeks at number one on the United States Billboard Hot 100.
B’Day is sometimes confused with Beyoncé’s self-titled album, which appeared in 2013, or with 4, released in 2011. Its birthday-themed title and 2006 release distinguish it from those later records. The album earned five Grammy nominations and won Best Contemporary R&B Album.
