In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, what historical group does Eivor lead from Norway into England?

The story behind the answer

In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Eivor leads a Viking group from Norway into England.

Eivor's clan leaves Norway and establishes a settlement in England during the ninth century. The settlement becomes the player's home base, from which Eivor undertakes raids, alliances, political missions, and exploration across several English kingdoms.

The game draws on the Viking expansion into England while also incorporating fictional and historical figures. Eivor becomes involved in the conflict between the Hidden Ones and the Order of the Ancients, the earlier organization that precedes the Templars.

The word Viking describes Scandinavian seafarers involved in raiding, trading, settlement, and exploration; it does not identify one unified empire. Valhalla also includes Norway, but England is the principal region for most of the campaign. Eivor's clan should not be confused with the Spartan mercenaries of Odyssey or the Roman forces appearing in other entries.
