In Assassin's Creed Unity, Paris is the game's main open-world setting.
Unity takes place during the French Revolution, beginning in 1789 and continuing through the revolutionary upheaval. Players explore a detailed version of Paris as Arno Dorian, an Assassin who becomes involved in political violence, personal revenge, and the larger Assassin-Templar struggle. Major landmarks include Notre-Dame, the Louvre, the Bastille area, and the Tuileries.
Versailles appears prominently at the beginning of the game and returns in story sequences, but it is not the primary open-world city. Paris is where most investigation, parkour, combat, and side activities occur. The game also presents the city as a crowded urban environment with districts, interiors, and period events.
Ubisoft released Unity in 2014. Its cooperative missions allow multiple players to control Assassins in Paris, while the main campaign remains centered on Arno's individual story.
