In Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, which year is London’s main historical setting?

The story behind the answer

The main historical setting of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is London in 1868.

The game takes place during the Industrial Revolution and follows twins Jacob and Evie Frye as they fight Templar control over the city. Their campaign moves through districts shaped by factories, railways, crowded housing, and rapidly expanding industry.

The year 1868 places the story in the Victorian era, after the major upheavals of the French Revolution depicted in Assassin’s Creed Unity. Syndicate’s London is therefore much later than Unity’s Paris and much earlier than the modern-day portions of the franchise.

The setting also explains several distinctive gameplay features, including trains, carriages, rope launchers, and industrial machinery. Although the Frye twins and their enemies are fictionalized, the game incorporates real locations and historical personalities associated with nineteenth-century London.
