In Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the Templars control London during the game's main story.
Set in 1868 during the Industrial Revolution, Syndicate follows the Assassin twins Jacob and Evie Frye as they arrive in London and challenge the Templar Grand Master Crawford Starrick. Starrick's influence extends through industry, organized crime, politics, and other institutions across the city.
The twins build a network of allies and gradually reclaim London districts by defeating Starrick's associates. Jacob focuses more heavily on street gangs and direct action, while Evie often pursues artifacts, intelligence, and stealth-oriented objectives.
London is the key setting, not Paris, which is the setting of Assassin's Creed Unity. Boston is strongly associated with Assassin's Creed III, while Florence is central to Ezio's early story in Assassin's Creed II.
