The main story of Assassin's Creed Syndicate begins in London in 1868.
That date places the game in the late Victorian period, during the Industrial Revolution. Twin Assassin protagonists Jacob and Evie Frye arrive in London and work to weaken Templar control over the city's institutions, criminal networks and industrial interests. The setting includes districts such as Westminster, the City of London and Whitechapel.
The year is sometimes confused with 1851, when London hosted the Great Exhibition, or with 1871, which falls later in the Victorian era. Syndicate uses 1868 as a recognizable moment of industrial expansion, class division and rapid urban change. The game was released in 2015 and emphasizes carriage travel, rope-launcher traversal and gang warfare.
