In Assassin's Creed Origins, the Medjay from Siwa who is the game's main protagonist is Bayek.
Bayek is a protector of the Siwa region in Ptolemaic Egypt. A personal tragedy sends him and his wife, Aya, across Egypt while they investigate masked enemies and the political forces behind them.
Origins depicts a fictionalized period around the first century BCE, when Cleopatra and Julius Caesar are major historical figures. Bayek's investigation develops into the foundation story of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later becomes the Assassin Brotherhood.
Players also control Aya during selected sequences, but Bayek is the principal playable character. Senu, Bayek's eagle, is an animal companion used for reconnaissance rather than the human protagonist.
