Alexandria is the Egyptian city that serves as the setting for the Great Library in Assassin's Creed Origins.
Origins is set in Ptolemaic Egypt during the first century BCE. Alexandria was a major Mediterranean center of scholarship, trade, and political power, and the game recreates landmarks such as the Great Library and the Pharos lighthouse.
The protagonist, Bayek of Siwa, travels across Egypt during a personal quest that develops into the formation of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later becomes the Assassin Brotherhood. His partner Aya has important connections to Alexandria and its political world.
The historical Library of Alexandria is famous, although surviving evidence does not support every popular story about its destruction. In the game, the city is one of several major locations, alongside Memphis, Cyrene, and Bayek's home oasis of Siwa.
