In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, which pirate captain becomes an Assassin?
Answer
Edward Kenway
Answer
Edward Kenway
In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, pirate captain Edward Kenway becomes an Assassin.
Edward is a Welsh privateer and pirate operating in the Caribbean during the early eighteenth century. He initially seeks wealth and prestige, using an Assassin's identity for personal gain after encountering Duncan Walpole. His ambitions bring him into conflict with both the Templars and the Assassin Brotherhood.
As the story develops, Edward sees the consequences of greed, slavery, and political manipulation. His relationships with figures such as Edward Thatch and Mary Read help change his understanding of freedom and responsibility. By the end, he commits himself to the Assassin cause.
Edward is the father of Haytham Kenway and the grandfather of Ratonhnhaké:ton, linking Black Flag to Assassin's Creed III. He is not the same person as famous historical pirates such as Henry Morgan or Charles Vane.
