In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, which historical pirate is Edward Kenway's quartermaster?

The story behind the answer

In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Adéwalé is Edward Kenway's quartermaster. He serves aboard the Jackdaw and becomes one of Edward's closest allies.

Adéwalé is a formerly enslaved man from Trinidad who joins Edward's pirate crew. He is portrayed as an experienced sailor and a committed member of the Assassin Brotherhood. His knowledge, discipline, and moral perspective often contrast with Edward's early pursuit of personal wealth and freedom.

Adéwalé later becomes the protagonist of Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry, a standalone story originally released as downloadable content for Black Flag. In that story, he returns to the Caribbean and confronts the institution of slavery directly. Blackbeard and Charles Vane are also historical pirates in Black Flag, but neither is Edward's quartermaster.
