In Assassin's Creed III, the protagonist Ratonhnhaké:ton is commonly known in English as Connor.
Connor is the Kanien'kehá:ka name of the character who becomes an Assassin during the American Revolution. The game presents him as the son of Haytham Kenway and a Kanien'kehá:ka woman named Kaniehtí:io. He uses the name Connor while interacting with the colonial communities around him.
Assassin's Creed III follows Connor's life from childhood into adulthood and places his story across the 18th-century American colonies. He works with Achilles Davenport, an older Assassin who trains him and helps restore a local Brotherhood.
Players sometimes confuse Connor with Haytham, who is the game's opening playable character and Connor's father. Desmond Miles remains part of the modern-day plot, but he is not the historical protagonist. The name Ratonhnhaké:ton remains important because it reflects Connor's Kanien'kehá:ka identity and heritage.
