Florence is Ezio Auditore's childhood home in Assassin's Creed II.
Ezio grows up in Renaissance Florence as the son of Giovanni Auditore, a banker secretly connected to the Assassins. After a conspiracy destroys his family, Ezio begins a decades-long journey of discovery, revenge, and eventual leadership within the Brotherhood.
Florence is one of several major Italian settings in the game. Players later visit Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, Forlì, Venice, and the Vatican district of Rome during different parts of the story. Venice is therefore an important location, but it is not Ezio's birthplace or childhood home.
The game uses real Renaissance landmarks, including the Basilica of Santa Croce, Palazzo della Signoria, and the Duomo of Florence. Its historical setting also introduces figures such as Leonardo da Vinci and the Medici family, blending documented history with the series' fictional conflict.
