In Assassin's Creed II, Ezio belongs to the Florentine Auditore family.
Ezio Auditore da Firenze is the central character of Assassin's Creed II, released in 2009. The story begins in Florence in 1476 and follows Ezio as he becomes involved in the conflict between the Assassins and the Templars. His family includes his father Giovanni, mother Maria, sister Claudia, and younger brother Petruccio.
The Auditore name is closely tied to the game's personal revenge plot. Giovanni Auditore secretly works as an Assassin and is executed with his sons after a political conspiracy. Ezio escapes with his mother and sister, then begins a long journey through Renaissance Italy. The family name is sometimes confused with Medici, Borgia, or Pazzi, all of which are prominent historical or fictionalized families appearing in the game.
The subtitle “da Firenze” means “of Florence,” linking Ezio's identity to the city where his story starts. Later games continue Ezio's life, but Assassin's Creed II is the title that introduces him as a young Florentine nobleman.
