In Assassin's Creed II, what is the full name of the Italian assassin who replaces Altaïr as the main hero?

The Italian assassin who replaces Altaïr as Assassin's Creed II's main hero is Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Ezio begins the game as a young Florentine nobleman in Renaissance Italy. A political betrayal leads to the execution of members of his family, sending him on a long campaign against the people responsible.

His journey takes him through Florence, Venice, and other Italian locations. Leonardo da Vinci becomes an important ally, creating equipment and interpreting discoveries that help Ezio in his missions.

Ezio later returns as the central character of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations. His trilogy is one reason he is among the franchise's most recognizable protagonists.
