In Assassin's Creed II, what is the full name of the game's Italian protagonist?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed II's Italian protagonist is Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Ezio is introduced as a young Florentine nobleman in 1476. After members of his family are executed through a political conspiracy, he becomes involved with the Assassin Brotherhood and spends much of the game pursuing those responsible. His story takes him through several Renaissance Italian locations, including Florence, Venice, Forlì, and Monteriggioni.

Ezio is not the protagonist of the first Assassin's Creed, which follows Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. He also appears in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations, forming a connected trilogy about his life. The surname “Auditore” identifies his family, while “da Firenze” means “of Florence.”

The character became one of the series' most recognizable figures because his games portray his development over decades, from a reckless young nobleman to an experienced mentor. His Renaissance setting also helped establish the historical identity of the second main installment.
