In Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, which city is rebuilt and governed by Ezio?

The story behind the answer

In Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Ezio rebuilds and governs Rome.

Rome is the game's main setting and the center of the Borgia family's power. Large parts of the city begin under the control of the Borgia regime, and Ezio gradually weakens that control by liberating districts, recruiting Assassins, and restoring businesses and landmarks. This rebuilding system makes Rome more than a backdrop: its recovery is a central gameplay objective.

Assassin's Creed II includes Florence and Venice as major locations, while Brotherhood focuses much more tightly on Rome. The historical city itself was the center of the Papal States during the period represented in the story. The game fictionalizes Ezio's role in its liberation and combines real Renaissance figures with the series' secret-war narrative.
