Serket was the goddess associated with protecting Qebehsenuef’s canopic jar.
Qebehsenuef was one of the four Sons of Horus and guarded the intestines removed during mummification. Egyptian funerary tradition paired each Son of Horus with a protective goddess. Serket was linked with Qebehsenuef, while Isis protected Imsety, Nephthys protected Hapi, and Neith protected Duamutef.
Serket was also associated with protection, healing, and the control of venomous creatures. Her name is often written Selket or Serqet in English. The canopic-goddess pairings varied in presentation across periods, but the standard funerary arrangement consistently identifies Serket with Qebehsenuef.
