How wide is the standard UFC Octagon?
Answer
30 feet
Answer
30 feet
The standard UFC Octagon is 30 feet wide.
The UFC’s regular competition Octagon is an eight-sided enclosure measuring 30 feet across. It has a padded canvas floor, a fence surrounding the competition area, and corner posts that support the structure. The design gives fighters more usable space than a small ring while keeping contests contained.
The Octagon’s shape became one of the UFC’s most recognizable visual features. It also affects strategy: fighters can be pressured against the fence, use the cage to limit an opponent’s movement, or attempt takedowns and control positions along it.
Not every UFC event uses exactly the same-size enclosure. Smaller venues may use a 25-foot Octagon, while the standard large competition cage is 30 feet across. The measurement refers to the cage’s width, not the length of one side of the octagon.
