Ten years passed between the release of the first and eighth Harry Potter films.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone opened in 2001, while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was released in 2011. The series therefore spanned a decade from its first cinema release to its concluding film.
The eight-film run adapted seven novels, because Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was split into Part 1 and Part 2. The films followed the growth of the central cast, with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson appearing throughout the main series.
The exact span is sometimes described as ten years even though the premieres and opening dates were not on the same calendar day. It is also important not to count the later Fantastic Beasts films, which belong to the wider Wizarding World franchise rather than the eight-film Harry Potter series.
