The United States Semiquincentennial commemorates 250 years.
The anniversary counts from July 4, 1776, when the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, to July 4, 2026. A 250th anniversary is called a semiquincentennial.
The number also explains the America250 branding. The “250” appears prominently in the official logo and public identity for the national observance.
A common mix-up is confusing this milestone with the 200th anniversary celebrated in 1976. The 2026 event comes half a century after the bicentennial. The next major 100-year milestone after 2026 will be the United States Tricentennial in 2076, marking 300 years.
