C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia consists of seven volumes.
The series begins with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, published in 1950, and concludes with The Last Battle, published in 1956. The other titles are Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, The Horse and His Boy, and The Magician’s Nephew. Together, the books describe the fictional world of Narnia across multiple historical periods.
Lewis originally wrote the books without intending to publish them in the later chronological order often used by readers. The publication order starts with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, while chronological reading starts with The Magician’s Nephew. Both sequences contain the same seven books. The series is sometimes casually called a seven-book set rather than a single novel, because each volume has its own plot while contributing to the wider Narnian story.
