Two theatrical Mr. Bean films star Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean.
The first is Bean, released in 1997, in which Bean travels to the United States and becomes involved with a major museum presentation of Whistler’s painting. The second is Mr. Bean’s Holiday, released in 2007, in which Bean travels through France after winning a holiday.
Both films expand the television character into a feature-length story while preserving the emphasis on visual comedy and misunderstandings. They also place Bean in international settings, allowing the character’s limited speech and eccentric behaviour to work across language barriers.
The animated series is not counted as a theatrical film, and Rowan Atkinson’s live performance at the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony is not a Mr. Bean movie. The total therefore refers specifically to feature films released for cinema with Atkinson performing the character.
