Foo Fighters’ 2015 EP Saint Cecilia contains five songs.
The band recorded the EP in October 2015 at the Saint Cecilia Hotel in Austin, Texas, during the two weekends of the Austin City Limits Festival. Its five-track sequence includes “Saint Cecilia,” “Sean,” “Savior Breath,” “Joking Apart,” and “Iron Rooster.”
Saint Cecilia was initially released as a free digital download in November 2015, with the band dedicating it to fans. The project was also connected to a difficult period for the group: Foo Fighters announced that touring and promotional plans were being affected by the November 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris, where the band had been scheduled to perform.
The title refers to Saint Cecilia, the hotel where the recordings were made, not to a full studio album. That distinction explains why track-count questions sometimes produce confusion: the release is an EP, and its five songs were recorded in a concentrated hotel-studio setting rather than during a conventional album campaign.
