Forty-one United States players competed in singles at the 2026 US Open.
The total consisted of 18 American men and 23 American women. It counts players in the singles competitions, not doubles specialists, junior competitors or wheelchair entrants. It also describes participation rather than the number of players who reached a particular round.
The host nation traditionally has one of the largest national contingents at the US Open. American players can enter through rankings, qualifying, wild cards and direct acceptance into the main draw. The final count therefore includes more than seeded players or automatic main-draw entries.
The figure also helps explain why American storylines were prominent during the tournament. Ben Shelton reached the men’s singles final, while the United States had several other deep runs. Still, the participation number includes every American singles entrant, regardless of how early they lost.
