Black Sabbath played 81 shows on The End Tour. The farewell run began in the United States in January 2016 and concluded with the band’s final concert in Birmingham, England, on February 4, 2017.
The tour covered multiple continents and included North American, European, Australian and New Zealand dates, along with other international stops. It was built around the original heavy-metal band’s final touring lineup: Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Tony Iommi on guitar and Geezer Butler on bass, with Tommy Clufetos handling drums.
The number can be confused with the tour’s advertised dates, postponed performances or the separate final Birmingham event. The 81 figure refers to the shows actually played across the tour. The last one was filmed and later documented in Black Sabbath: The End of the End, which preserves the historic homecoming performance.
The Birmingham finale was held at the Genting Arena, now known as Resorts World Arena, and represented the end of nearly five decades of Black Sabbath touring.
